Excess fuel
After you dip the wicks in the fuel, how do you reclaim the excess fuel? Is there a way of spinning off the excess fuel so that it doesn't drip onto me or the ground?
With poi this is done by holding a container around the wicks. Then spinning them along a plane, pouring the excess fuel out of the container and back into the original fuel container.
With hoops, I have seen zip lock baggies used to control the spun off fuel.

I don't really think it's a problem with fans, since the wicks are quite small, even if you don't do anything it's usually fine, and the fuel doesn't really drip around (the way it does with poi). However usually I go a bit aside and make a very quick move (like a quick spin) to spin off the fuel, just to make sure it's okay, though usually there is not much fuel and it is not really dripping. But I guess it may depend on the type of your wicks. Or maybe it's because I dip it for just 5 seconds or so.
